What is Body Language?
Body Language is nonverbal communication that relies on body movements such as gestures, postures and facial expressions to convey messages. It may accompany speech or even serve as a substitute for speech. Body Language may be used consciously to project confidence and charisma.
People can also be trained to pick up unconscious body language signals that leak unconsciously from others who lack confidence or sincerity.
What is Deception Detection (Lie Detection)?
Deception detection is a scientific method that analyzes the combined nonverbal (body language) and verbal signals of someone to discover deception and uncover the truth.
The verbal signals are detected by statement analysis, which is the scientific study of word patterns by analyzing what words people use and how they use those words.
